Midwest  Cover Crops Council Cover Crop Decision Tools

The Midwest Cover Crop Council (MCCC) Cover Crop Decision Tools are web-based systems to assist farmers in selecting cover crops to include in field crop and vegetable rotations. The MCCC works to facilitate widespread adoption of cover crops throughout the Midwest, to improve ecological, economic, and social sustainability.

Ohio Wood Products

The Ohio Wood Products site is a resource provided by Ohio State University to provide technical assistance to Ohio’s citizens, forest industries, and communities regarding sustainable woodland utilization as well as the efficient use of materials. The site maintains a database of logging companies, sawmills, wood product vendors, and firewood sellers as well as current and archived timber prices.

Web Soil Survey

Web Soil Survey (WSS) provides soil data and information. WSS provides access to the largest natural resource information system in the world. NRCS has soil maps and data available online for more than 95 percent of the nation’s counties and anticipates having 100 percent in the near future. The site is updated and maintained online as the single authoritative source of soil survey information. Soil surveys can be used for general farm, local, and wider area planning. Onsite investigation is needed in some cases, such as soil quality assessments and certain conservation and engineering applications. Find a Forester

The Ohio Society of American Foresters maintains a list of Certified Foresters in Ohio. This list will provide you with contact information of these Certified Foresters who can assist you in writing forest management plans, conduct timber sales, and determine the value of the timber in your forest.

The Ohio Federation of Soil and Water Conservation Districts has a rich and diverse history of conservation efforts in Ohio. For over 70 years, they have been the leader in conservation stewardship for our state.  The OFSWCD meets to determine legislative needs, action items, and makes recommendations on conservation issues.

The Division of Soil and Water Conservation (DSWC) provides leadership and services that enable Ohioans to conserve, protect, and enhance soil, water, and land resources. The DSWC was established beginning January 2016 through a transfer of programs from the Department of Natural Resources to the Department of Agriculture.

National Association of Conservation Districts

The National Association of Conservation Districts (NACD) is the nonprofit organization that represents America’s 3,000 conservation districts and the 17,000 men and women who serve on their governing boards. Conservation districts are local units of government established under state law to carry out natural resource management programs at the local level. Districts work with millions of cooperating landowners and operators to help them manage and protect land and water resources on all private lands and many public lands in the United States.

USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service- Ohio

Muskingum Watershed Conservancy District

The Muskingum Watershed Conservancy District (MWCD) is a political subdivision of the State of Ohio organized in 1933 to develop and implement a plan to reduce the effects of flooding and conserve water for beneficial public uses under Ohio Revised Code Chapter 6101 (commonly called the Conservancy Act).
